When buying older periodic you will have different aspects to consider and decisions to make compared to purchasing a brand new house which should have a NHBC certificate which is like a repair warranty for 10 years. Checking the structure is important when buying an older Property to make sure it is good condition for its age. You will want to ensure that you obtain a detailed survey carried out by a surveyor who specializes in period homes. Repairs might need to be done to the house before you move in, so consider if you will have to get this work done before you move in.

Character and period homes can be really rewarding and can provide a solid home for you and your family to live in. You can undertake and add some nice neat modern touches to these homes whilst still keeping their original features which will give you a very unique and desirable home.

Buyng a brand new home will give you the security of the 10 year NHBC to cover many of the defects but there are other factors which may need to looked at. With a new build property you may discover some give the impression of being smaller than the character style properties. Also you may find that these new properties don’t seem to have as much or any character like the period properties. Also you may find in a new build the finish is not at the standards as expected as developers these days as they try to keep the costs down as much as possible. Also check they have not cut too many corners.

There may be small leaks or problems which get encountered and even though you have the NHBC warranty you will still have some inconvenience. You may notice your purchase price does not include items such as garden lawns, TV aerials or even phone lines, so add this on to the cost of the purchase Deals.
